Surface Pro 8 connector

Is there any way to use the Surface connector to do more than just charge the device. We'd like to use our Surface tablets with an external keyboard physically mounted in a vehicle and would like to only plug in the Surface connector. So, It'd be nice to have an adapter made to plug a charger and keyboard into then have that terminate to the Surface connector. Any ideas?

Yeah, I know about the Surface dock, I was hoping for a low tech inexpensive way to do it. A $200 dock just so I can do what I want to do seems excessive.

A USB-C dock could work with a Surface Pro 8.

I've looked at the Surface docks, however these are going to be installed into heavy trucks. I'm not sure the Surface dock would be rugged enough to survive the environment. Thanks everyone for the answers.
