Unable to drive Dell 30" Monitor

I've got a Surface Pro 3 i5/256GB and purchased this mini display port to dual link DVI adapter and a dual link DVI cable to drive my Dell 3007 WFP 30" monitor but I'm unable to use a resolution higher than 1280*800. When I select anything higher than 1280*800, I just get a black screen or a disrupted image that's reminiscent of an old CRT and a loose cable.

Anyone else have this issue?

You first need to know what the highest resolution that your Dell monitor is capable of. I would check on the Dell support site to see if there is a W10 driver for the monitor. In the case of all the monitors I have installed on computers, I didn't need any driver support for the monitor but they varied in what the highest resolution that was available to set them at. I just looked at the highest resolution of my W10 desktop that I'm working on right now it's highest it could go to was 1600 x 900.

My monitor supports 2560*1600 and I've got the latest drivers (noted for W7 but said to work for W10). But again, I can't even get to 1 step higher than 1280*800.
