Using numlock function on the keyboard

How does one turn on the number lock function that turns the keys 789 uio jkl and m into a number pad? To be clear, I am asking about the physical keyboard where m=0, j=1, k=2, l=3, u=4, i=5, o=6 and 7=7, 8=8, and 9=9.
