Windows 10 Mobile for Older Smartphones Delayed Until End of February [Rumor]

Sadly, owners of older Lumia smartphones might have to wait a bit longer to get Windows 10 Mobile on their device. Microsoft has supposedly delayed the release of Windows 10 Mobile for any of the older Lumia devices, until at least the end of February.

This has yet to be confirmed by Microsoft (at the time of this post), but a customer of a French Telecom carrier was given this information when he asked about getting his device updated. Microsoft did previously share a list of older devices which will eventually receive the Windows 10 Mobile update:

• Lumia 430
• Lumia 435
• Lumia 532
• Lumia 535
• Lumia 540
• Lumia 635 (1 GB RAM)
• Lumia 640
• Lumia 640 XL
• Lumia 735
• Lumia 830
• Lumia 930

We will keep an eye out for any corroborating or contradictory evidence of this delay.

Yes, and even if MS releases it on Feb 28, AT&T probably won't make it available to users of its network until next Christmas.

This is one area in which I wish that MS was more like Apple - letting people update their OS with interference from the telecom oligarchy!
