A recent article reported a couple of days ago cited the upcoming MS DX12 APIs demoed on a SP3 can decrease power draw and increase performance markedly .

Windows 9 Threshold perhaps is a vehicle of more innovations to come.

    My 2 cents

All it takes is for you to not run any apps that don't use it. :) a fine step nonetheless.

Well, graphics is the area where Apple is further ahead than MS but yet almost all gaming in PCs. A bit of irony but its good to see that the SP3 will support future enhancements to the Windows platform.
With the upcoming explosion of hiDPI devices, the efficient use of the GPU becomes much more important on the S/W implementation.

I'll be curious about any Direct 2D enhancements that could use the EUs on the GPU.

Actually I've been expecting to see all sorts of {stuff} start leveraging the GPU... including bad stuff... ill bet they never put any protections into these things either. it would be a first if they did.
