recommendations for a USB splitter?

I bought a Hoo Too 4 port USB3 powered hub on Amazon..HT-UH002

My 1TB STOR.E Toshiba drive(Bus powered) worked perfectly with surface pro (win, 8.1) when plugged in USB port.
Not recognised at all when plugged in via powered hub.....though all other USB2 drives etc are picked up..

But drive recognised and worked perfectly in other computers thru hub(with power on or off) in USB2 ports.

Can anyone help ???

Welcome to the forum

Normally a USB powered drive is hit and miss but on a powered HUB I don't understand why it would work. I assume you tried a restart.
