Yes, I do it while it is docked with both my Surface Book and Surface Book 2

Depends on the peripheral. Keyboard or mouse would be no problem. USB drive could be a problem if you were writing to it. If its safe to just unplug the peripheral, it should be OK.

You will get notified if it's a problem. If you are running an app that is using the DGPU when you try to detach you will get prompted to close the app.

Thanks, that's what i was getting at, though I've never seen that warning. I guess better safe than sorry
