confused about PDF readers

I have been unable to open any PDF's on my Surface. I have read that there is an inbuilt reader so why is that not opening them? Also when I have tried to download Adobe and Foxit, I am told these are incompatible with my pc. Bear in mind I am not terrible tech-savvy in any replies

Surface RT only runs apps from the store, there is no inbuilt PDF reader specifically although you should be able to open certain PDFs in Word. However, you can download Microsoft's Reader App or Adobe's PDF Reader App for free from the Store which will fix your issue.

PDf-Touch is another solution for viewing and annotating PDFs

The Reader app comes on the RT. I've been using it for PDFs since day one. Start > Charms Bar > Search > Reader

Ditto. Never have to download anything else.
