Did my upgrade to 8.1 on my Surface RT cause this?

I got my first tablet for Father's day - a simple 32GB RT and my knowledge of the Surface is limited. After using it for a few days I got a notification that I should upgrade the OS to 8.1. After that, I noticed a little yellow exclamation icon on top of the wireless icon. After trying to find out what it's all about, I've come to think that it has to do with my wireless printer. Before the upgrade, the Surface recognized the printer and all seemed well although I never printed from it. Could this new OS not support the printer? The printer is an HP P1102w.
