How can we select potion of text in tablet mode?

Hi.
In tablet mode, By keeping finger pressed on text, only 'select all' option visible which selects everything on a page. No cursor visible for selecting portion of text.

With external keyboard, it portion of text can be easily selected by mouse cursor with conventional click and drag action.

I just press on the word I want to select then I get the "slider icon" to adjust -

Please see attached snapshot (Red Arrow).
Only two options, 'Select All' and 'Print' are available when I try to push down my finger on the text under your name for copying.
Nothing of the sort you have mentioned above.

You may be holding your touch too long. You may be touching and holding until you see a menu. Instead, tap a word, and immediately release.

Yes, you are right. It works for webpages. Thanks.
However, in text documents there seems to be some other method. Like in notepad, I have found that you have to lightly press down your finger and drag over the text you want to select which is then highlighted.
But unlike in Notepad, in MS Word, its the same method like you mentioned.
I don't know what method is used for pdf files in pdf writer.
