How to keep secondary monitor turned on when SP3 display turns off (w/o connected standby)

Hi,

I have disabled connected standby via the registry and set the SP3 display to sleep after a certain time period.
However when i connect to a projector and the SP3 display turns off, the projector turns off as well. Note that the SP3 is still fully functional in the background and is not in sleep mode.

I came from a Macbook Air with bootcamp, and when the display slept, the projector always remained on. I am unable to find a solution to this, any help?
