Just depends on how it hits. I wondered if the corner drop did something to facilitate the face shattering, like maybe the dent was putting pressure on the screen bowing it out a little to begin with.

Gorilla glass is great but far from as impervious as marketing would have you believe. while youtube drop tests are interesting they are far from scientific or conclusive.

The screen was bound to smash, but I bet it still has great scratch resistance - although I was very happy to see the rear of the device not getting too many scratches on it, which is a bonus.
