I just bought a Surface Pro 4 (i5/128gb/4gb) primarily to take hand written notes. I'm a full time college student and I wanted to streamline my note taking while reducing the amount of notebooks I have to carry everyday.

I've tried the metro OneNote but switched to OneNote 2013 because of added features. I have it set up to display lined paper which brings me to my issues.

I have paper size set to auto but whenever I try and print notes it seems like a single paragraph (on Surface) takes up a whole page when printed. Is there any way to fix this?

Is there any way to make a notebook default "new page" display the lined paper?

Welcome to the forum, and congratulations for your SP4.

To have new pages open automatically with "Rule Lines"
1) Open the Desktop version of OneNote.
2) Click View Rule Lines
3) Click View, Always create new pages with rule lines

Both versions of OneNote will now create new pages with the rule lines.

Any idea about getting the lines to show up when I print notes? Or the sizing issue when printing?

Those menus I posted are from my own Surface computer, to show all the options for making ruled paper. The paper becomes a background image, which gets printed every time. Your background can be white, of course, if desired, with colored lines.
