No Pop3

Trying to set up a Surface RT. I now notice that the Surface doesn't support pop3 email. Microsoft can't be this dumb?

POP3 is not supported in the built in Mail App only EAS or IMAP (there are some work a rounds), when 8.1 is out, it includes Outlook 2013 RT and that should support POP3.

This is correct. I'm running 8.1 preview with Outlook and it does have POP3 support. Nice addition. :)

To be fair, how old is POP3?

There probably are some valid use-case scenarios, but I don't think I've seen anyone use it for over 10 years.

Pop3 is still the only option for many carriers BUT on further research I found that my Service Provider supports POP and IMAP. So I 'm keeping my new Surface RT. YEAH!

If you can do IMAP, definitely do that option even if POP3 is supported.

My inlaws still use their old ATT.net account in pop3. After poking around, I found you can set it up as a Yahoo account and it works as IMAP. Much better.
