Question about Power consumption on Surface 2

I have not figured put yet how to view the battery meter and remaining % on Surface 2, it could be because I am new to Windows 8. I can see a battery symbol on the lock screen next to the WiFi connectivity but no indication of the remaining power %. When i click it, it disappears showing the login screen. I know there must be an easier way similar ro my Windows 8 phone where you can see the remaining power on the main screen.

Go to the Desktop, click on the battery meter on the taskbar.

Thank you so much, that was easy. I was trying to do that in the Metro interface and did not think about the desktop mode.
