Removing One Drive

If I remove One Drive from my Win 10 O/S will the files saved by it disappear from my regular HD storage? I have a brand new system and everything so far seems to have been automatically stored on One Drive. I don't want One Drive on my system but am afraid to delete it for fear of losing my files altogether.

OneDrive is an integrated part of Windows 10, so it cannot be removed completely. However, you may disable OneDrive from starting, and keep it from syncing your files by “turning it off”.

Your files will remain on your PC.
