sporadic screen flickering

Has anyone experienced their screen flickering sporadically? It acts like it is shutting down but then quickly opens again. It concerns me that it is a sign of either screen or processor failure. Possibly overheating. is there any way to test the cooling fan? I have a surface pro.

well you should know if its overheating if its.. hot.
Also open task manager to check your memory etc.
