Surface Pro iPhone 5 bluetooth tethering

Has anyone tried to tether Surface Pro to iPhone 5 using Bluetooth? I have an AT&T version iphone 5 (ios 6.1.2) and the connection keeps dropping. I was wondering if anyone else also has the same problem.

I tether to my Samsung S2X and it works flawlessly with my surface pro. What surprised me was when I tether to my old laptop, it takes quite a long time to get internet connection, but with my surface pro, I can connect almost instantly. I can borrow an iphone 5 and try it for you when I have time. I am here in Canada though so it would be a different cell phone carrier.
