Unable to connect my gmail account....

Hello....I purchased my surface pro w/touch cover yesterday and I'm loving it so far. I have everything up and running except my gmail account. When I try to connect it gives me an error message saying it can't connect. I downloaded a gmail app from the store as a workaround for this but I'm still curious as to why I can't connect to my account. I've entered all info correctly......any ideas?

Yep. Basically Google cut the link between it and Microsoft for new account syncs about a month ago. There are a few threads discussing this.

When you attempt to connect your GMAIL account to the mail client you need to disable certain sync options ie. Turn off Calendar and Contacts. The only thing that will work right now is Mail.

Thanks....I was able to set it up with just the email syncing. I love this device!

If you want to use calendar, I've found that the google touch app from the marketplace is a ridiculous but useful workaround.
