Unreal Engine recommends the following specs:
Windows 7 64-bit or Mac OS X 10.9.2 or later
Quad-core Intel or AMD processor, 2.5 GHz or faster
NVIDIA GeForce 470 GTX or AMD Radeon 6870 HD series card or higher
8 GB RAM

The Surface Pro 2 is a dual core CPU, Intel GPU, 4 or 8GB depending on the model you have.
The Surface Pro 2 is not a gaming system.

I expect it to run, but not great.

I realize it is not a gaming machine. I intend to get a nice desktop for that. Just hoping to do some level creation from my lazyboy.

Any ever try it with surface pro 2? Otherwise I will be soon....

No I have not.
I don't work on gaming. I just like playing them (and I play them on my nice desktop) :)

I do more software development. So I use Visual Studio, and that for what I do, it's plenty of performance.
Basically what the device needs is a discrete GPU, and it would be an awesome mobile gaming machine.
But sadly the technology isn't there yet.

It certainly runs but long term I am not sure if it will handle complex level designs. The surface gets hot running the software and I think eventually scales back processing speed to try to stay cool. It is fun to learn UE4 on it tho....can't wait to try my levels out on a rift.
