Volume rocker stuck on down

My volume rocker is stuck down, so the volume goes down to zero and stays there, and the little pop up thing in the upper left showing the volume is constantly there. Does anyone know if I can unstuck it somehow? I've noticed I can take at least part of the back off my surface, it would be nice if there's a way I can disable the volume rocker so it won't go back to zero if that's possible?

I have a surface rt by the way.

What happens if you push the up side of the rocker?

Also if you push the down side does it move in or is it already in? wondering if its just the underlying switch that's stuck or the physical button.

Can you stick the edge of the rocker with a pin to try to unstuck the rocker?

If I push it up it goes up, then I let go and it goes back down.

When I push down it doesn't move- it's already in.

I've been trying to stick stuff in there to get it unstuck but I've had no success yet!

Ok here's what happens on mine
Hold the volume down it goes down
While still holding down push and hold up... it stops going down and goes up
Release up while still holding down and it stops moving but the display stays present.

What you describe leads me to believe there is both physical and electrical damage. sounds like its time to return for repair/replacement.
