That sounds like Windows 10. What this thread is about is a recovery for 8.1

There is no Windows 10 recovery image, only an original Windows 10 creation tool. The thread is about 8.1 for which there should be an image available.

I went to this site to get a recovery image:

And it let me download this file finally instead of just giving me a blank page.

A confusing name... if you look into the zip file dates are all 3/19/2015 or 5/22/2015. which is about right for a Surface 3 Win 8.1 Recovery image and would be scary early for anything Win10.

Yup. Finally worked for me too.

It's the 8.1 image. Though mine is called Surface3_BMR_10_4.50.0.zip.
