Black light on but no screen display

Good Evening all,
I recently changed the battery and now the screen display will not come on. I can tell the pro itself comes on and see the backlight come on as well but there is nothing displayed. The cables are in tact and not sure what to do. Did I over heat the screen taking it off or damage something else even though there’s no evidence of it. Thanks for the input.

If you don't even see the Surface logo on your screen during a bootup, then unfortunately, there is likely damage.

You may be able to use and control your Surface Pro 2017 with an external monitor. Also, with an external monitor you may discover some driver or setting to fix the problem, if it is not hardware. Computers with damaged screens are often sold as-is, to be used as file servers or desktops with an external monitor.
