DVD READER/ WRITER CAN WORK

Purchased an LG GP60NS50 DVD read/ write external device.

LG did read DVDs but did not write with the SP3 .

I read over some forums.

Found that using split USB cable (Y type cable with one input, two output) with one end connected LG DVD reader Writer, and one USB to SP3 itself (not docking station) and the other USB connected to a powered USB hub, writing can take place.

Hope this helps.

Yes it is a good point, and several external devices have this issue. Also, you can use the USB power port on your power brick as one of the power supply ends.

The device you mention is about $100.00.

The LG is about$30. I upgraded to the LG GP65NS50. $29.95 @ Amazon. Had an extra cable with two USB connectors --left over from an older external hdd.

I just went and bought a power bank I keep in the bag, when I need to run the drive I just hook the power bank to the extra USB and it runs great. Doesn't really use much of the power either.
