Is there a way to keep desktop items running in the background?

Howdy...

I have some desktop apps that will run whilst onscreen, but when I switch to a MUI app, they pause or stall...

Is there a way to have desktop apps keep running in the background while other MUI apps are in the foreground?

When you say some, which ones are you talking about? The ones I have work fine in Metro and can even have both desktop and MUI versions running simultaneously.

Any desktop apps I run continue when I switch to a MUI app.

We need more detail in order to be able to help, as you are not seeing normal behaviour.

For example, uTorrent.... Runs perfectly whilst I have the desktop showing... When I switch to a MUI App (Metro Media Player, for example), after a very short time, uTorrent will stop downloading. When I switch back to the Desktop, uTorrent has a download speed of zero.

Then, as I sit on the desktop, it'll resume and begin downloading again...

Thoughts?
