Question about the Music app. I have a Surface RT with the latest Windows 8.1 update. and I have an PC with the latest Windows 8.1. I have most of my music stored on an External Hard Drive attached to my PC.
I open the new Music app and it doesn't automatically locate my music. So I select the "Where should we look for music on this PC" (or similarly worded option) and it begins to open an new tab (I assume it will have me choose what folder to look in) but then suddenly closes the App. I then re-launch the Music App and repeat... it closes the app every time that I attempt to locate my music.

My end goal is to be able to listen to my music on my Surface RT and hopefully on my Xbox.

Am I doing something wrong?
Is this issue due to my music being on an External Hard Drive?
How to fix?

I have seen this myself, but I put my music on a network. Just curious - does it crash if the HDD isn't plugged in?

I'm having some frustrations with this app, too. I can't get it to play music from my microSD card. Instead I have just been using Windows Media Player.

While drive is connected, try right click folder/Include In Library select Music, see if that works. Jim
