no ink tools tab in Word

I no longer have "ink tools" tab available on the menu of Word.
Pen only draws...I can't select text. Anyone else have this problem? just started yesterday

I notice that the inking tab automatically appears once the pen is close enough to the screen for the cursor to popup. Move the pen away and the ink tab automatically vanishes.

It used to do that with me...now no matter what I try the menu won't come up.
