Serious battery capacity decrease

Still no luck, but I'll sort that out later. What's important is that I'm reading from the same place you are and, as I said, both design capacity and full charge capacity match (31. 502), 32 cycle count, and I've had the Surface since day one.

Don't forget lithium ion batteries require periodic recalibration. MS recommends running your battery all the way down once a month and then a full charge to accomplish this.

Hmm maybe ill try that.. only problem is last time I tried it the surface shut it self down before it fully discharged.. :S after its self shut down it won't turn back on unless I plugged it in.

That is interesting info. Not sure what I can do with it, but it is interesting.

3. Edit: HP Envy Laptop, 2 Years old:

Design Capacity = 58712

Full Charge Capacity = 58712

Different report format in Win7. Did not give cycle count.

I'm slightly concerned by this, especially as others have a higher charge count and better capacity. Also why would my manufacturer come up as 'unknow' and invalid characters for serial number?

It is threads like this or whenever my cell phone battery is near dying after a half day of use that I wish that I could return to my engineering days, and of course be self funded. There are billions to be made in battery design. Batteries are still so bad for our modern components. Yes the power demands are higher, however, there is real money to be made through hicap battery design.
