Ok, the Wake On LAN app seems to work to get the desktop to wake (yay!) but can't seem to get autologon to work.

Right, will probably just go buy a networked printer to make life easier. I just like my old Laserjet workhorse. We've been through a lot together.

My life got substantially easier at home when I bought a decent laser all-in-one printer, scanner, fax, copier. A Brother brand, with built-in wireless. No wires or cables to worry about except power. Everything prints to it nicely.
