Surface Pro 6 ethernet to usb adapter

Hi All,

I have 2 questions on the title above. Basically we are trying to set up wired connections for dozen of surface pro 6 devices since wi-fi is not allowed in our office. For the record, i've never used surface before, so need your advice

1. Can we use any ethernet to usb adapters apart from the the ones issued by Microsoft (Buy Surface USB 3.0 Gigabit Ethernet Adapter - Microsoft Store)
2. I know 3.0 ports are backwards compatible, but will it require driver to be installed (even if the adapter is marked plug-and-play?)

Hello, @sivapc. Welcome to the forum.

You should be able to use any USB to Ethernet adapter. No additional drivers.

I forgot to mention we are going to try 2.0 adapters on the surface. I guess that shouldn't be a problem
