USB to Fast Ethernet adaptor problem

I bought a USB 2.0 to fast ethernet adaptor for my Surface Pro and can't get it to work. I've tried different drivers but the results are always a failed install with error message "cannot start device"



The adaptor has a model reference of KY88772A. Anyone any idea how to get this working?

The only thing I can come up with based on a search is that it doesn't support anything beyond XP But what is the brand and where did you get it? The model # alone isn't a lot of help.
