Wear marks under the kickstand hinge

I have had 2 surfaces and within a week they both showed a wear mark under the hinge of the kickstand. It looks to be some kinds of friction tape strip. I didn't have time to upload a photo but basically the silver strip is wearing pretty fast and turning black.

I also noticed this on my previous SP3. I returned the first one for a ghostly fog under the screen that would wipe away on the surface, but come right back. Anyways I ordered a skin for my second unit. I couldn't figure out what was causing the wear as I am very careful with my devices.

Same here, doesn't bother me too much. I am also very careful with my unit.
