DVD Writer

Anyone recommend a DVD writer that will work on the SP4? One that will work with just the one port as a lot of them require two USB to function

I got a cheap USB one by LG at Microcenter that has worked great.

Ironically, I use my Apple SuperDrive that I got with my MacBook Air. There's a driver floating around that allows it to work just fine with Windows (Google it). It's nice and small, compact, with only the one USB cable and it's aluminum so it's a pretty good match with the Surface Pro line.

Every USB DVD drive I've ever used came with a CD disk with software (I call it junk stuff) that you never have to use. USB DVD drives or plug and play so you don't need to install any software for them to work.

Apple's own Boot Camp drivers "are" required for the Apple external SuperDrive to work on a Windows machine. Download and Unzip the Boot Camp software from Apple Download Boot Camp Support Software 5.1.5769 and run AppleODDInstaller64.exe in the BootCamp/Apple/Drivers folder. That's it.

Most also have a plug for a power supply. Also doesn't the sp4 power brick also have a usb power connector.
