Front Facing Camera Very Dark

When using Google Hangouts (which I use incessantly in my job) the front facing camera is incredibly dark. I can adjust the lighting when outside of Google but cannot do anything with it when using hangouts.
Any suggestions?

I'm not a user, but the Web is full of chatter regarding this as a bug, (Lolipop 5.0, Nexus, etc) and is being addressed.

So it does not seem to be your hardware.
