printing "faded" photographs

Hi all,
My MS2 recognises my Epson r800 printer but only prints very faded and therefore useless pictures. Can anyone help me with this ?

This trouble is well known. It is a combination of your paper, and telling the printer what paper you have loaded. Your printer is likely okay, and so is your Surface computer

Thanks for replying.
I may be missing something obvious but my surface isn't giving me any options as to paper type, print quality etc.
When I print from my vista powered laptop it gives me all sorts of options.
Am I looking in the wrong place on my surface ?
