I had loved the FN button on right side of my Surface pro 3 keyboard but exchanged it now for the SP4 keyboard and they put on the left now and replaced my FN key on the right with a right click key. Well that key is usless for me and now I have to use two hands to change brightness of of my screen.

Am I able to change that right click key to a FN key again?

Hi, @Joe Torres

Unfortunately, the "Fn" key is very special. It is handled by the BIOS and is a specialty or "modifier" key that is not available to any software. In other words, the Fn key is hardwired. Re-mapping with software or even with a change to the Windows Registry is not possible.

That is why the "Fn" key cannot even be used to wake up your Surface.

I appreciate your quick and detailed response. So is there any way to control the screen brightness with the brightness controls that are on the new Surface pro 4 typecover that is used for backlight of keys?

Wish statements like that was in the user manual. You just saved me a lot of aggravation.
