surface pro 3 i7 - crack corner of screen

i just bought i7 pro 3 very cheap with crack starting in right corner and running half way down bezel. i figure if it gets worse i can replace screen but there's no point in doing so until it gets worse. anyone have any tips on helping to stop it spreading? i intend on covering it up with a skin.

• The cheapest i can find a screen with digitizer for on a SP 3 is 340.00 USD on eBay . Remember that you need the right revision number for it which means taking yours off first and reading the revision number on the back of the screen. if your cracked screen holds out another 6 months or a year the price will most likely go down to around the 150 or so mark. if the digitizer is working you can get a screen only for around 100.00 but they are bonded together and it is a heck of a process trying to separate clean and re bond, almost a lost cause. you can buy a cheap or expensive laptop dock or microsoft dock if the screen goes out all the way and use it with an external monitor so depending on how cheap you got it you may have made a very good buy. the i7 model has some heating issues so if you dock it id advise making an external fan dock to cool it. google will show you some basic ideas. as for keeping the crack from getting bigger the only thing i could say is don't put a case on it as that would put pressure on the screen. good luck mate.
• PS- If you do replace the screen do yourself a favor and replace the battery at the same time as these things are SUPER hard to open without destroying the screen.

Well it all works fine right now, I only paid £450. How much to Microsoft charge to repair/replace out of warranty? I'm assuming it's more expensive in uk?

they were going to charge $500.00 usd for out of warranty on my surface pro 2, fortunately i was wrong and had another month of complete warranty left and got it for 50 bucks. only one i have knowledge of. wouldn't know for SP3 for sure

how about uv glass glue over the cracked part, the a screen protector over it, before the glue sets? it's a good idea? or even just the glass glue alone? i'm talking the glass glue you set with a uv light

here's a pic to show you guys what i'm dealing with. So far i've superglued it, but i'm thinking uv loca glue over it, let it set hard, then get a stocker boy on the whole thing and i should be good to go. I know i'll never get it as strong as if it was new but even if it did spread i'm still sure someone would pay at least £450 for it, for uk market that is very cheap even broken.

But if anyone has experience with this please let me know, if it could do more harm than good i'd love some opinions.

How about putting a tempered glass screen protector? I'm not sure if that will help but it might.

I thought about it but i think screen protectors lesson the user experience a little. I think glass glue should give a similar result then i can hide the mess with a sticker boy.

I've decided after some thinking to completely leave it, the cracked bit moved up and down freely with pressure independently of the rest of the screen, without causing any damage to itself or the rest of the screen. The last thing i want to is bond it to rest of screen then if i put pressure on it, it cracks the rest of my surface screen. Going to stick a skin on it and pretend it's not there i think
