Surface Pro 4 won't stay on

My son's Surface P4 won't stay on at all and warranty just expired : ( Any suggestions vs paying $450 for a refurbished as MS suggests?

It starts shutting down? Or does it just go black as if you pull the plug of a desktop? How long does it stay on?

It goes black right away .. won't stay on long enough to do anything at this point?

So, you get the Surface logo and then it turns black. Anyone who can help Gstal? Should be possible to get it up and running again?

Does the Led on the magnetic power plug stay on, or does it blink etc?

I am prompted for the screen pw then once I input it the screen goes black. Keyboard remains lit and light on cord stays on.

I was able to access a prompt to reset the PC so trying that next

The PC reset and was taking me through the set up then it went dark (again).. tried it 2 x and same result. Blacked out when trying to pair the pen.
