Am I a little bit off or do some of you feel the same about not straying too far from your Surface.

I take mine most everywhere as well.

For WiFi signal strength etc, go check out and install InSSIDer (http://www.inssider.com)

They used to have an excellent free version, but I can't find it on their site now. It's version 3.x, you can find it by Googling or PM me for it.
